After trending on all social media platforms, 'Oorum Blood' from Pradeep Ranganathan's latest film Dude has amassed over 100 million views on YouTube. Composed and sung by Sai Abhyankkar with lyrics by Paal Dabba, the peppy and foot-tapping song was released late August and instantly became a chartbuster and a earworm among the youth with multiple reels and video recreations made on the song.
Expressing his excitement and happiness, Sai Abyankkar wrote on his X handle, "Love you all makkale." The number is also special for the composer-singer as it marked his entry to the Tamil film industry after he made his composing debut with the Malayalam film Balti earlier this year. He also released an unplugged version of the same song, which was also met with positive reception.
Sai Abhyankkar, who earned massive fame for his singles 'Katchi Sera' and 'Aasa Kooda', quickly became a popular name in the South Indian film industry, earning him nearly ten projects in the last one year across Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam languages.
Dude, released in October, was Pradeep's fourth film as the lead. He has previously headlined Love Today, which was released last year in which he served as the director; Ashwath Marimuthu's Dragon, and Vignesh Shivan's Love Insurance Kompany (LIK).
The film tells the story of cousins Agan (Pradeep) and Kural (Mamitha) who start a new event-planning venture. When they get close together for the business venture, one of them falls in love with the other and proposes marriage to the latter, making their relationship complicated.
The film grossed more than Rs 100 crore from theatres worldwide. It marked a third consecutive 100-crore-grosser for Pradeep after Love Today and Dragon. The film emerged as the winner in a box-office battle earlier this Diwali, minting more money from theatres worldwide as compared to Bison, starring Dhruv Vikram and directed by Mari Selvaraj, and Diesel starring Harish Kalyan and Athulya Ravi. However, it received mixed reviews from critics. While many appreciated its take on modern-day romance, some also criticised the film, especially its dialogues.
The film is currently streaming on OTT platform Netflix.
