Back in September, the Tamil Nadu Government's Kalaimamani Awards were announced for the years 2021, 2022, and 2023. Of the winners from the film industry, Sai Pallavi won the award for the year 2021. Further, in October, she also received the award from Chief Minister MK Stalin at the event.
Nearly a month later, the Gargi actor has shared pictures of receiving the award and has also penned a note about the same. Taking to her Instagram on Monday, she wrote, "Kalaimamani is a word that I’ve heard growing up, and to be bestowed upon this honour is surreal. Thank you, Tamil Nadu Government, Honourable Chief Minister Thiru MK Stalin avargal & TN Iyal Isai Nadaga Mandram, for this great honour." Further, she also added a note mentioning why she was late in sharing the pictures: "This precious post was delayed by a month so that I could take a picture with my lovelies: refer to pic 3." The picture features her holding the award alongside her grandparents.
Sai Pallavi, who began her career with Premam in 2015, made her Tamil debut with Diya in 2018. While Maari 2 made her famous, especially after the 'Rowdy Baby' dance number with Dhanush, her Gargi was received with utmost praise in Tamil cinema. In Tamil, she was last seen starring alongside Sivakarthikeyan in Rajkumar Periasamy's Amaran.
Last seen in Thandel, Sai Pallavi awaits the release of her Hindi debut, Mere Raho, in which she stars alongside Junaid Khan. Meanwhile, she is busy working on Nitish Tiwari's magnum opus, the two-part Ramayana, in which she will be seen playing the role of Sita opposite Ranbir Kapoor's Ram and Yash's Ravana.
Sai Pallavi won the Kalaimamani along with actor-director SJ Suryah, director Lingusamy, and stunt co-ordinator Super Subbarayan for the year 2021. Vikram Prabhu, yesteryear actor Jaya VC Guhanathan, lyricist Vivek, actor K Manikandan, actor George Mariyan, music composer Anirudh, singer Swetha Mohan, and dance choreographer Sandy were also among the awardees this year.
