At the audio launch of Kavin's Mask, debutant director Vikarnan Ashok delivered an emotional speech, expressing gratitude to everyone who made his first film possible. “Thanks to my assistant directors and Vetri Sir’s team who helped us. I’m standing here because of Andrea ma’am. She was the one who showed my script to Vetri sir,” he began.

Vikarnan also thanked producer Chockalingam, cinematographer RD Rajasekhar, and the film’s cast and crew. “Chockalingam anna has nurtured so many talents—including me now. RD Rajasekhar is a joy to work with; Nelson anna is a genre unto himself. He’s in the film, but no one will know where!” he said with a laugh.

Expressing his admiration for his peers, Vikarnan added, “Thanks to Vijay Sethupathi anna for his kind words; my friend Ashok Selvan often talks about your goodness. Ruhani is a talented actor who’s done wonderfully. GV, your music gave me confidence—thank you. Redin has played a beautiful role. Ramar’s editing, under Vetri sir’s guidance, has elevated the film. Vijay Aiyappan has been by my side throughout.”

Speaking about his lead actor, he said, “Kavin plays Velu—a man with both good and bad sides, and he’s portrayed that complexity brilliantly.”

Vikarnan concluded his speech with a heartfelt note to his mentors. “Thank you to action masters Peter Hein and Vicky, and to Vetri sir—if you seek his advice, you’ll definitely grow in life. No one in my family believed I’d get to work with you, sir. I’m forever grateful!”

A heist thriller, Mask also stars Bala Saravanan, VJ Archana Chandhoke, and Charlie in key roles. Andrea is also producing the film under her The Show Must Go On banner alongside Black Madras Films' SP Chockalingam. Vetri Maaran, who serves as a mentor for the film, is also a previous producer for it. The Vada Chennai filmmaker was attached to the project to produce it through his banner Grass Roots Film Company before the company's closure.

The film is gearing up for release on November 21.
