The Tamil Film Producers Council appealed to the Government of Tamil Nadu to take over the online booking of tickets. The appeal came after their general body meeting which happened today (09-11-25).

Back in 2019, Tamil Nadu's then Minister for Information announced that the Government is working on an online portal for booking tickets for films. The move was met with mixed reactions.

In the general body meeting of the Tamil Film Producers Council, it was mandated that films starring A-List actors will have to run in theatres for a minimum of 8 weeks before an OTT release. The mandate also mentioned that the films starring B-List actors, and so on, will have to run in theatres for a minimum of 6 weeks before an OTT release.

The council also passed a mandate through which it introduced a revenue sharing model for films starring A-List actors. The new model will have both actors and technicians sharing the profit and losses along with the producers.
