Kamal Haasan, along with Mani Ratnam and the primary cast of Thug Life, was present in Hyderabad on Thursday, to promote their film that’s scheduled to hit theatres on June 5. On the occasion, Kamal Haasan spoke about his association with Telugu industry, acknowledging its contribution towards his long-lasting stardom.
Addressing the media, Kamal Haasan stated, “I was made as a hero in Kerala, but I was made a star here (in Telugu film industry). This is the home where I grew up as a star.” Addressing the audience, the veteran actor added, “This industry took me to Ek Duje Ke Liye, and gave me finances to produce more good films, and I thank you for that."
Kamal Haasan also spoke about working again with Mani Ratnam, 38 years after their iconic collaboration in Nayakan. He stated, “Mani’s direction has improved, which will surprise you all, though not me. I know that an artist like him will have to evolve. I was happy to meet that Mani Ratnam then; now, I have become ready to meet this version of him. The delay (in our collaboration) — let me not blame him, it’s because of me, because I had to evolve to meet him.”
Besides Kamal Haasan, other cast members like Trisha, Abhirami, Silambarasan, Ashok Selvan and Nassar were also present at the event.
