In an uncommon occurrence, prominent figures from South Indian cinema of the 1990s recently reunited in Goa for a celebratory gathering. The reunion included filmmakers and actors from the era. Some of the notable attendees are directors KS Ravikumar, Shankar, Lingusamy, Mohan Raja, and choreographer-director-actor Prabhu Deva. Actors Jagapathi Babu, Meka Srikanth, Simran, Meena, Sangavi, Malavika, Sangitha, Reema Sen, Maheshwari, and Sivaranjani were also part of the meet-up.
The group engaged in various activities, including beach gatherings and discussions about past film experiences. The reunion marked a continuation of friendships and celebrated their contributions to cinema.
Speaking of which, KS Ravikumar directed Meena in Nattamai (1994) and Muthu (1995), and Sangavi in Nattamai (1994). Shankar directed Prabhu Deva in Kaadhalan (1994). Jagapathi Babu and Meka Srikanth appeared together in films like Manasulo Maata (1999) and Choosoddaam Randi (2000). Maheshwari sang the song ‘Valibam Vaazha Sollum’ with Karthik Raja, Ajith Kumar, Vikram, Prabhu Deva, and Shruti Haasan in Ullaasam (1997).
