Late on Tuesday, Love Insurance Kompany director Vignesh Shivan shared a photograph from the sets of the film alongside choreographer Jani Master. Earlier, the choreographer put out a video-text post where he embraces Vignesh and expresses his gratitude to the latter for how the filmmaker treats him on his sets. "It's always a joy working with you for the care, respect and trust you shower on me Sir. Can't wait to share the magic we created to all of them," Jani wrote as the caption.
Vignesh shared Jani's post on his Instagram Stories and wrote, "Sweeet master ji. Team LIK - loves you and your vibe a lot."
This marks the first verbal disclosure about Jani's involvement in the film from its makers. It comes amidst sexual assault allegations against Jani, which led to his arrest and subsequent bail in late 2024. It is important to note that Jani Master, whose full name is Shaik Jani Basha, was arrested in September 2024 following a complaint from a former colleague alleging sexual assault. The complainant stated that the abuse began when she was a minor. A case was registered against him under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, with provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act also being applied. Jani received conditional bail in October 2024. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting suspended his National Film Award for Best Choreography for the song "Megam Karukkatha" from the Dhanush-Nithya Menen starrer Thiruchitrambalam, citing the seriousness of the allegations.
Regarding Love Insurance Kompany, the film features Pradeep Ranganathan, SJ Suryah, and Krithi Shetty in lead roles. The extensive supporting cast includes Yogi Babu, Mysskin, Seeman, Anandaraj, Malavika, Sunil Reddy, Gouri Kishan, and Shah Rah. The plot reportedly centres on a protagonist who utilises a mobile gadget to time travel to 2035 in pursuit of love.
The project has undergone several transformations since its initial conception. The film was first announced in March 2019 with Sivakarthikeyan slated for the lead, but it was shelved later that year. In 2023, the makers revived the project with director-actor Pradeep Ranganathan as the protagonist. The official title, Love Insurance Corporation, was unveiled later in 2023, with principal photography commencing soon afterwards. Filming took place in various locations, including Coimbatore, Udumalaipettai, Singapore, and Malaysia. However, in July 2024, the makers changed the title to Love Insurance Kompany due to copyright claims by SS Kumaran and Life Insurance Corporation.
Production on LIK has been wrapped, and the film is slated for a September 18 release. The technical crew contributing to the film includes composer Anirudh Ravichander, cinematographer Ravi Varman, and editor Pradeep E Ragav.
