Sudha Kongara, who recently spoke to Behindwoods in an interview ahead of the release of Sivakarthikeyan's Parasakthi, opened up about why she went with this title and how she bagged the rights for it from the makers of the yesteryear eponymous Sivaji Ganesan film. It is to be noted that Sudha previously conceived the project with Suriya and Nazriya in lead roles, and it was then titled Purananooru.
On why she felt Parasakthi fit the bill better, Sudha said, "The biggest 'sakthi', or strength, in this film are the students. So the title is very apt. Purananooru was also an apt title, but I liked Parasakthi more."
Further, Sudha explained how she got the rights for the title. "I then told Sivakarthikeyan and the film's producers that it would be great if we got the rights for the film. But I was not harking upon it, as I was unsure if those who held the title rights of the Sivaji Ganesan film would let it go. The team behind the film and Sivaji Sir's family read the subject, and then they felt that the title was required for the content," she detailed.
Parasakthi also stars Sreeleela, Atharvaa and Ravi Mohan in lead roles. Reportedly, Rana Daggubati is also a part of the film, but the makers are yet to disclose the same. The film marks Sreeleela's debut in the Tamil industry.
Parasakthi is Sudha Kongara's fourth film after Drohi, Irudhi Suttru, and Soorarai Potru. Sudha has written the film along with Arjun Nadesan, with an additional screenplay by Ganeshaa and dialogues by Madhan Karky and Shan Karuppusamy. The crew of the film includes GV Prakash as the music composer, Ravi K Chandran as the cinematographer and Sathish Surya as the editor. Aakash Baskaran is producing the film under his Dawn Pictures banner.
Dev Ramnath is serving as the creative producer, along with MP Senthel and Rhea Kongara, who are serving as executive producers. Red Giant Movies is distributing the film. Upon release, Parasakthi will compete with Vijay's final film, Jana Nayagan, at the box office. The latter is scheduled to hit theatres on January 9.
