After a span of two years, Krithi Shetty is having the busiest time of her career promoting three films - Vaa Vaathiyaar, Love Insurance Kompany and Genie. Ahead of the Karthi-starrer's release, the actor opened up on facing criticism and hate, and how she has learnt to deal with it over time.
A teary-eyed Krithi called it a part of her job of being a public figure and shared, "Everyone around me knows that I am a very sensitive person and often, because this is a very demanding job, you tend to lose yourself a little bit as you spend a lot of energy in acting." The public scrutiny and criticism, she says are beyond her control. "It's very unfair. Even now you face a lot of rejection so I do tend to lose myself a little bit even though I'm a typically optimistic person," she remarked, noting that it is at these times that her mother supports her, pulling her out of her low phases. "She has provided me some much-needed reassurances, telling me that I am so much beyond what I do. Even my friends do that. Now, I am very secure with myself," she said.
Further, Krithi said that she is "grateful" for everything. "Since everything happened so fast, I didn't have the space and time to feel self confidence and give myself some love. Hence, even the smallest of incidents would affect me a lot. At one point, it started affecting me personally and I started losing my confidence. Until then, even in my childhood, if someone made a comment on me, I wouldn't care at all, but I don't know why all this is affecting me so much. I don't have an answer for it," she explained.
Krithi's upcoming film Vaa Vaathiyaar is billed as an action-comedy entertainer and marks the first collaboration between Karthi and director Nalan Kumarasamy. The film also stars Rajkiran, Sathyaraj, Anandaraj, Karunakaran, GM Sundar, Shilpa Manjunath, and Ramesh Thilak in pivotal roles. The film is set for release on December 12.
After Vaa Vaathiyaar, she is awaiting the release of Love Insurance Kompany, headlined by Pradeep Ranganathan, which is scheduled to hit theatres on December 18. The sci-fi romantic entertainer is directed by Vignesh Shivan. A release date for Genie, starring Ravi Mohan, is yet to be announced.
