With over six months until the Tamil Nadu State Assembly election, actor and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay's speech at the party's second state conference is set to keep politicians, journalists, and political observers talking for days.
Poll fever has already gripped Madurai, as the 'Thoonga Nagaram' (City that never sleeps) has been active for weeks in preparation for TVK's 'Maanaadu 2.0'.
Vijay’s nearly 40-minute speech sparked speculations on one of the key questions in TVK: What constituency will Vijay fight the 2026 election from? He enjoyed the rousing welcome from his cadre with a pause after saying that he would fight from Madurai East. However, he listed out the constituencies in Madurai and said he will fight from all of them. He directed his cadres to dedicate themselves to poll preparation, thinking he was fighting in every constituency and there was no difference between him and his candidates. Though there is no clarity on Vijay's choice of constituency, his speech has teased the Tamil Nadu electorate and political pundits.
He maintained the pitch he set in the first conference held at Vikkiravandi of not pivoting even an inch away from his stance of opposing his party's ideological enemy BJP, and political enemy DMK. He also took a dig at the AIADMK for compromising on the ideals of its leaders, MGR and Jayalalithaa. In addition to this, he reiterated his decision to quit films, saying that he will interact with people full-time and address their problems as he has 'no other work to attend to' hereafter.
On the work front, Vijay's final film, Jana Nayagan, directed by H Vinoth, will release during the Pongal holidays on January 9, 2026.
