Previously, we reported that Tamil actor Sri, also known as Shriram Natarajan, posted explicit videos and photos on his Instagram account, leaving fans deeply concerned. The concerns were mostly regarding his mental well-being, while some fans and media outlets also conducted some interviews to understand his current psychological state.
On Friday, director Lokesh Kanagaraj who worked with Sri in his directorial debut, Maanagaram (2017), shared an official statement from Sri’s friends and family, which mentions that the actor is currently receiving medical help and asking fans and the media to respect their privacy.
The statement read, “We would like to inform all well-wishers, friends, and members of the media that Actor Shriram is under expert medical care and is currently taking some time off from social media following his doctor's advice. We kindly request everyone to respect his need for privacy as he focuses on his recovery and well-being. Speculation and misinformation can be extremely distressing, and we urge all media platforms, both online and offline to refrain from spreading rumours or unverified updates about his health.”
Further addressing the media outlets that published interviews of individuals who commented upon Sri’s mental and physical well-being, the statement said, “We also appeal to media platforms to remove any objectionable content or interviews based on his current condition and to respect his personal space as he focuses on recovery. We also do not endorse any views expressed by certain individuals in interviews and deny the same completely. We thank you for your continued love, support, and understanding during this time!”
Previously, SR Prabhu, who has backed some of Sri's films including Maanagaram and Irugapatru (2023), directed by Yuvaraj Dhayalan, released a statement addressing hate comments on the actor not receiving salaries for his recent projects. SR Prabhu urged everyone to understand the facts before commenting. He also issued a strong warning, stating, “To those making comments or spreading stories without knowing the truth, and to the ones exploiting his vulnerability and spamming my timeline — go f_<€ yourself.”
Sri rose to fame with his debut in Balaji Sakthivel’s critically acclaimed Vazhakku Enn 18/9 and went on to star in films like Onaayum Aatukuttiyum, Son Papdi, Vil Ambu, and Maanagaram. The actor who has been away from the public eye for a few years after his notable role in Irugapatru, was seen visibly transformed—significantly leaner than before—raising questions about his physical and emotional state.
Before his film career, Sri was part of Kana Kaanum Kaalangal Season 2 on Vijay Television and also briefly appeared in the first season of Bigg Boss Tamil, exiting the reality show just four days after entering.
