It was reported by several news channels today that actor Vijay had registered a political party named 'All India Thalapathy Vijay Movement'. With TN state elections around the corner, this news about Vijay's political entry created a furore on social media. Denying the news, Vijay's PRO Riaz K Ahmed tweeted, "The news spreading about Thalapathy Vijay's political party registration is untrue."
Shortly thereafter, reports emerged that Vijay's father SA Chandrasekar had registered the political party under the name of 'All India Thalapathy Makkal Iyakkam'. In further conversations with the media, the filmmaker also stated that Vijay will not be a part of the party or its activities.
Responding to the turn of events, Vijay released a strongly-worded statement distancing himself from the party started by his father and its activities. "I have no direct or indirect connection with the party. I will not be bound by any political activities that my father (SA Chandrasekar) undertakes through this party. I further urge my fans to not join the party just because my father has started it. Nor do you have to work for the party. We have got nothing to do with this party."
The statement ended with a warning of sorts to people who were misusing his image, and his 'Agila India Thalapathy Vijay Makkal Iyakkam'. "Action will be taken against unauthorised usage of my name, my photo, and my organisation's name."
It may be noted that Rajinikanth had recently hinted at reconsidering his political plunge.
