Rakul Preet joins Kamal Haasan's Indian 2 

Rakul Preet Singh, who was recently seen in NGK, has been roped to play one of the female leads in director Shankar's vigilante action-thriller Indian 2. She will be paired opposite Siddharth, who plays Kamal Haasan's grandson in the film produced by Lyca Productions. 

"Shankar believed that Rakul can do complete justice to the role, so, he sent his co-directors to Mumbai for story narration. She liked the script and is delighted to be on board as the filmmaker's stories always leave strong impressions on the audience. The team is currently working on other formalities and she is expected to sign the dotted line next week," informs a source. 

Reportedly, the team has also roped in Bollywood actor Vidyut Jammwal for the antagonist and actors Aishwarya Rajesh and Priya Bhavani Shankar to play crucial roles.  

A sequel to Shankar's 1996 film of the same name, the film follows the life of an Octogenarian vigilante Senapathi, who rises to fight against corruption. A trilingual in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi, Indian 2 also features Kajal Aggarwal as the female lead. The next schedule of the film will commence in Chennai on August 19.
