The official trailer of TVF’s upcoming presentation The Pyramid Scheme was unveiled on Friday, also confirming the OTT premiere for the series. The show will arrive on Prime Video on June 5.
The Pyramid Scheme stars Paramvir Singh Cheema, Ranvir Shorey, Shekhar Suman, Aanjjan Srivastav, and Alfia Jafry in the lead cast. The trailer opens by introducing one of its key characters Tarun Bajaj (Shekhar Suman), who promises every middle-class Indian an opportunity to change their lives in six months. We are then introduced to other main characters of this universe - Goldy (Paramvir Singh Cheema) and Manoj Srivastava (portrayed by Ranvir Shorey), two men with different aspirations who get pulled into the alluring world of ‘sapno ka business model’ that is based on pyramid marketing. However, the higher Goldy and Manoj climb this pyramid of success, the shakier the ground beneath them gets.
The show is created by Shreyansh Pandey, who is also the series director alongside Ashish R Shukla. Akshendra Mishra has penned script for the series. The ensemble cast includes Akhilendra Mishra, Smita Bansal, Ravi Bhel, Sadanand Patil, Sonal Jha, Sushant Singh, Vijay Kumar, Indresh Malik, and Ashish Raghava.
”Talking about the series and his character, Ranvir Shorey, shared, “While the story is based on pyramid schemes, it is interesting how it uses that subject to show how ordinary people get pulled into extraordinary situations in their search for purpose, respect, and a better life. My character, Manoj, is a simple man who seeks something more than money or fame, something more valuable for him than a growing bank balance.” Shekhar Suman, who portrays the character of Tarun Bajaj, said, “My character here is unlike any role I have played before. He is quirky which made him really interesting for me. What I really love about this story is how rooted and authentic it feels.”
Next week will see the arrival of 4 new OTT shows. Besides The Pyramid Scheme, there is Karisma Kapoor starrer Brown, and Made in India: The Titan Story, starring Jim Sarbh and Naseeruddin Shah. Additionally, there’s another TVF show, season 5 of Gullak that will premiere on SonyLiv.
