Belly and Conrad are back in action in the first photo from The Summer I Turned Pretty: The Movie. The official page of the series unveiled the photo along with the announcement that the film is now in production. While Lola Tung plays Isabel "Belly" Conklin, Christopher Briney stars as Conrad Fisher.

Sharing the photo, the handle wrote, "Did you miss them? The Summer I Turned Pretty movie is now in production." Further, Prime Video commented on the photo, saying, "No summer without them."

The announcement comes just days after Prime Video urged fans to stay away from the film's sets. When the behind-the-scenes clips already began surfacing online, the growing frenzy prompted the streamer to step in with a cautionary message about on-set disruptions.

While story details remain tightly guarded, the film is expected to continue Belly’s journey, particularly after her rekindled relationship with Conrad in the previous season. Speaking earlier about the decision to conclude the story with a film, Han said, “There is another big milestone left in Belly’s journey, and I thought only a movie could give it its proper due.” She added, “I’m so grateful to Prime Video for continuing to support my vision… and for making it possible to share this final chapter with the fans.”

Furthermore, dismissing rumours about the film's release in 2025, she clarified, “The show came out in July. It was really up to the last minute on the show, so we wouldn’t have had time to film the whole movie.” Prime Video is yet to announce a premiere date for the film.

The film will see the return of its core cast, including Jackie Chung, Gavin Casalegno, Sean Kaufman and Rain Spencer. Creator Jenny Han is once again closely involved, co-writing the screenplay with Sarah Kucserka and also directing the project.
