Selvaraghavan's latest film Manithan Deivamagalam is all set to premiere on OTT soon. Directed by Dennis Manjunath, who has previously helmed films such as Trip (2021) and Thookudurai (2024), the film was released on April 10.
Manithan Deivamagalam is based on the real-life incidents of a financier sexually assaulting women debtors who failed to repay him. Selvaraghavan and his wife, played by Kushee Ravi are caught in the chaos of it all with the director-actor vowing to put an end to everyone's misery in his village. Upon release, the film was met with mixed reviews.
An excerpt from our CE review of the film read, "While the subject of the film is harrowing on its own, the director goes above and beyond to spell out, underline, highlight, and amp up the agony of the victims in long, drawn-out sequences. It makes one wonder if the filmmakers who resort to such dramatisations believe that the audiences are incapable of basic empathy or do not have the mental capacity to understand how exactly these crimes are bad."
Kushee Ravi, known for her Kannada films such as Dia, Case of Kondana and Full Meals, had made her Tamil debut through Manithan Deivamagalam. Kousalya, RS Sathish, YG Mahendra, Mime Gopi, Lirthika, Sudha, Jothikannan, and Salem Deepak, among others are also part of the cast.
Vijaya Sathish and RS Sathish of Vyom Entertainments are producing Manithan Deivamagalam. On the technical front, the film has cinematography by Ravi Varma K, music by AK Prriyan, and editing by Deepak S.
Manithan Deivamagalam is set for release on SunNXT on May 1.
