James Beaufort and Ruby Bell return to Maxton Hall as a new school term begins—but can their budding romance withstand the weight of forbidden love? The trailer for the second season of Prime Video's latest German series, Maxton Hall, was unveiled by the streamer on Thursday.

The trailer shows the honeymoon phase of Ruby and James' relationship coming to a startling end after the latter cheats on her in front of their eyes. On the one hand, Ruby is encouraged to move on from James. On the other hand, James is persistent in his apology but is repeatedly prohibited by his father from pursuing a relationship with Ruby. The trailer promises a whole new season of drama comprising will-they-won't-they romance.

The series is based on Mona Kasten’s young-adult novel, Save You, and stars Damian Hardung and Harriet Herbig-Matten in lead roles. Maxton Hall is a typical story of forbidden love as the rich and arrogant heir James Beaufort (Hardung) falls for a sincere, stubborn, yet destitute Ruby Bell (Herbig-Matten) as she joins the affluent British school Maxton Hall in an attempt to achieve her dream of going to Oxford. The two initially start out with bickering and arguments, only to fall for each other eventually.

Directed by Martin Schreier and Tarek Roehlinger, Maxton Hall has a screenplay penned by Daphne Ferraro, Marc Schießer, Marlene Melchior, Zoe Hagen, Nina Rathke, Anna Schimrigk, and Juliana Lima Dehne. The series also stars Andrea Guo, Sonja Weißer, Justus Riesner and Fedja van Huêt in key roles.

Maxton Hall is produced by Markus Brunnemann and Valentin Debler and executive produced by Ceylan Yildirim for UFA Fiction. It is all set to return to Prime Video on November 7.
