With just hours left for the premiere of the fifth season of Emily in Paris, the anticipation for the new season is sky-high. Meanwhile, Lily Collins, who plays the titular character, has opened up about her struggles, particularly while filming for this season.
Collins welcomed her first baby through surrogacy earlier this year, and her entry into the motherhood phase was not an easy game. The actor revealed to The Sun newspaper that she was "very tired" when she filmed this season, and being on set was a "struggle" because of having sleepless nights with the infant.
"You have a different purpose [as a mother], and it's really tough. It's a struggle, and I'm just so grateful to be able to do both. I said to everyone this year, 'I'm really good with memorisation, I'm really good with knowing my lines, but this year give me some grace. I've not slept, I'm very tired, and I may not be on my game," she told the newspaper.
Collins announced her engagement to American film director and writer Charlie McDowell in September 2020 and tied the knot a year later in September 2021. They welcomed their daughter, Tove, earlier this year, and the actor announced the same through her Instagram handle.
The fifth season of Emily in Paris will see Lily in Rome instead of Paris, as she faces a lot of obstacles in kickstarting the Agence Grateau branch in Rome. The series also stars Lucas Bravo, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, Ashley Park, Samuel Arnold, Bruno Gouery, and Camille Razat. The show is created by Darren Star, who is well-known for his other shows, including Sex in the City, Beverly Hills, 90210 and Melrose Place.
