The fifth and final season of one of the most-awaited and celebrated shows The Boys has gone on floors. The makers announced late on Monday night.
The showrunner Eric Kripke revealed on his social media account that the shoot has commenced. He made the announcement along with the picture of the first page of the screenplay, with the first episode titled 'Fifteen Inches of Sheer Dynamite'. The series, based on the New York Times bestselling comic of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, follows a team of vigilantes as they combat superpowered individuals who abuse their abilities. The final season was greenlit by Prime Video in May this year.
Apart from the recurring star cast of Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, Colby Minifie, Claudia Doumit, and Cameron Crovetti, Daveed Diggs and Mason Dye will join the fifth season. It was also confirmed that actor Jared Padalecki will reunite with Kripke, creator of his hit TV series Supernatural, in a yet-to-be-disclosed role in the fifth season. However, it is speculated that Padalecki's character could be linked to Jensen Ackles' Soldier Boy/Benjamin.
Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Neal H. Moritz, Pavun Shetty, Phil Sgriccia, Michaela Starr, Paul Grellong, David Reed, Meredith Glynn, Judalina Neira, Ken F. Levin, and Jason Netter serve as executive producers along with Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. Though an exact release date is yet to be given by the makers, the final season of The Boys is expected to begin streaming in 2026.
