Dolby Laboratories' eponymous cinema brand has come to India with a location at City Pride, Kharadi, Pune in July last year. Subsequently, the company launched locations in Bengaluru (AMB Cinemas), Hyderabad (Allu Cineplex), and in Thiruverumbur, Tamil Nadu (LA Cinema). The company has announced its new location in India, EVM Cinemas in Kochi.
Making the announcement, they wrote in the caption, "Dolby Cinema has arrived in God's Own Country! We’re thrilled to welcome EVM Cinemas as the home of Keralam’s first Dolby Cinema, bringing the magic of Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos to movie lovers in Fort Kochi."
It is worth noting that Dolby Cinema is set to have another location in Keralam, which will be G Cineplex in Ulikkal.
According to Dolby Cinema, the Dolby Vision technology offers a level of picture quality that is "so lifelike it has to be seen to be believed." Several theatres in Keralam have Dolby Atmos, but the upcoming Dolby Cinema location in Kochi is set to be the first such entertainment venue in the state to offer both the aforementioned sound system and Dolby Vision.
EVM Cinemas is set to add to Keralam's growing theatre network with enhanced technology. The first EPIQ theatre in Keralam, namely Palaxi Cinemas at HiLite Mall in Kozhikode, was launched four years ago. The only other EPIQ location in Keralam is at the Thrissur-based HiLite Mall. On the other hand, Thiruvananthapuram is home to the first IMAX screen in Keralam, which is the PVR IMAX location at Lulu Mall. The only other IMAX theatre in Keralam is at Cinepolis Center Square Mall in Kochi.
