Actor Ansiba Hassan has said that she will move legally against actor and mimicry artist Tini Tom over the allegations she recently raised against him within the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA).
Speaking to Asianet News, Ansiba said that there was no point in raising the matter further within the organisation and that she would instead approach the police and the Kerala Home Minister with formal complaints. “There is law and there are courts in this country,” she said, while confirming that she plans to pursue legal action. Ansiba also alleged that she was mentally harassed after being summoned to the police station in connection with the issue. She further stated that she would file a complaint against the Circle Inspector of the Hill Palace Women’s Cell in Thrippunithura as well.
The controversy began after Ansiba, who is best known for playing Mohanlal’s elder daughter in the Drishyam franchise, resigned from AMMA’s executive committee earlier this year. She later alleged that Tini had called her a “Jihadi”, attempted to influence her religious beliefs, and spread false rumours suggesting she had illicit relationships with others in the industry.
Responding to the allegations, Tini denied all the claims levelled against him. He said that Ansiba was “like a sister” to him and insisted that he had never made such remarks. Tini further claimed that he was unaware of any wrongdoing on his part and suggested that there could be an internal conspiracy against him within AMMA.
The Pranchiyettan & the Saint actor also said that Ansiba had initially cited work commitments as the reason for stepping down from the executive committee. Tini added that he has remained active within the organisation for years and that no such allegations had previously been raised against him.
The issue has since snowballed into a wider controversy within AMMA, with actor Neena Kurup also accusing Tini of using abusive language during the organisation’s family meet event. Meanwhile, actor Lakshmipriya identified herself as the person Ansiba had accused of filing a false complaint against her, while denying that the complaint had any communal angle.
