Honey Rose has said that she accepts the public apology issued by businessman Boby Chemmannur over his remarks about her, adding that neither she nor her family ever intended to harm or trouble him. Speaking to Manorama Online, the actor said she was compelled to approach the police only after feeling deeply uncomfortable with Boby's conduct and comments.
"We have no intention of harming or troubling that person. Had he simply said 'sorry' at the very beginning, this issue would not have dragged on for so long," she said. The actor added that she had discussed the matter with her parents and that the family had decided to accept Boby's expression of regret. "I spoke to my parents about this. We appreciate his expression of remorse and accept his apology," Honey said.
However, she clarified that a final decision regarding the legal proceedings has not yet been taken. According to the actor, she will consider the remaining aspects of the case and decide on the future course of action later. Her response came shortly after Boby publicly apologised for his remarks and appealed for the legal action against him to be withdrawn.
In a statement shared through his social media handles on Monday, Boby said that he had come to realise that his comments about Honey had caused significant distress to the actor and her family. "My dear friends, actually, I am a person who treats everyone with kindness, respect, love and consideration. I have never intentionally harmed or mistreated anyone and always strive to help others whenever possible. I occasionally share humour and light-hearted content on social media, but I never do so with the intention of offending, hurting, or causing distress to anyone. But, I have come to realize that my statements about Ms Honey Rose have caused significant distress to her and her family. I deeply apologize for the harm I have caused. I take full responsibility for my words and their impact. I have no intention of causing any pain, and I hope that by offering this sincere apology, she will proceed to withdraw the case. I ask for this matter to be considered, and I am committed to moving forward positively," Boby wrote.
The controversy stems from remarks made by Boby in 2025 during a jewellery store inauguration event, which Honey alleged were sexually suggestive and derogatory towards her womanhood. Following the incident, the actor lodged a complaint with the Ernakulam Central Police, leading to legal action against the businessman and his subsequent detention by the police. The dispute sparked widespread discussion on social media and within the entertainment industry, with several voices expressing support for Honey's decision to take legal action against remarks she considered insulting and inappropriate.
