Some prominent actors and politicians from Kerala also joined those from Tamil Nadu in paying their tributes to legendary filmmaker K Bhagyaraj. The actor-filmmaker-screenwriter passed away earlier this Saturday following a cardiac arrest. He was aged 73 at the time.

Taking to his Instagram Stories space, actor-filmmaker Prithviraj Sukumaran shared, "Rest in peace sir! Being directed by you will always remain a privilege I hold close to my heart! A true legend of the art!"

It is worth noting that Prithviraj starred in the 2006 film Parijatham, written and directed by the late filmmaker. The romantic comedy is critically appreciated and was a box office hit at the time.

On the other hand, Jayaram called Bhagyaraj "a great human being" and revealed that the latter had been "a very good family friend". Speaking to reporters, the actor added, "It is my blessing to have been able to act in his direction."

Interestingly, 2015's Thunai Mudhalvar starred Jayaram and the late filmmaker-actor. While the multi-hyphenate is credited as the writer of the film, its director is officially mentioned as R Vivekanandan. However, Jayaram's statement about being directed by Bhagyaraj appears to corroborate with the claim that the latter ghost-directed the 2015 film.

Jayaram also said that they had a friendship that spanned over 30 years. "It was one of my biggest delights in life to know him as a friend for more than 30 years and have been directed by him," the actor added. He visited the filmmaker's residence in Chennai with his wife, former actor, Parvathy Jayaram, earlier this Saturday.

Meanwhile, opposition leader Pinarayi Vijayan noted, "I express my profound sorrow at the passing of renowned director, actor, and screenwriter K. Bhagyaraj. He was a notable artist who left an indelible mark on the world of cinema. Through stories rooted in rural backgrounds and with natural sense of humor, he created numerous films that found a special place in the hearts of family audiences. Apart from cinema, he was an extraordinary talent who also proved his abilities in literature. He was a beloved artist not only among Tamil audiences but also among Malayalis through his outstanding films. His demise is an irreparable loss to the film industry and the cultural sphere. I share in the grief of Bhagyaraj's family members, friends, and all those who loved him. Heartfelt tributes."

On the other hand, Chief Minister VD Satheesan echoed Pinarayi Vijayan's sentiment about Bhagyaraj. The CM wrote, "Deeply saddened by the passing of veteran Tamil actor, director, and screenwriter K. Bhagyaraj. Revered as the "Screenplay King," he redefined storytelling in Tamil cinema with his unique creative vision and unforgettable performances. He also shared a special bond with Malayalam cinema — his memorable role in Mr. Marumakan continues to be fondly remembered by fans in Keralam. His immense contributions to Indian cinema will continue to inspire generations. Heartfelt condolences to his family, colleagues, and countless fans. May his soul rest in peace."
