Singer-songwriter Jithin Raj, known for his work across the South Indian film industry, has met his idol Ilaiyaraaja. Sharing a picture featuring himself with the legendary composer, Jithin wrote on Instagram, "Life always has a gentle way of surprising us. Singing songs for Raja sir and performing in his live concerts has been one such blessing." Jithin has performed covers of the composer's classics live and as part of the legend's orchestra at his concerts. However, he said that these endeavours have been beyond his dreams. "To see him up close, feel his presence, and sing under his guidance is something I never imagined," Jithin wrote about the legendary music director.
The meeting happened amid a music recording session. During the meeting, Ilaiyaraaja signed a copy of Valiant, his Western classical symphony, and gifted it to Jithin.
The singer-songwriter called it a "deeply humbling" experience and expressed his gratitude for all the things that have been happening in his life.
As reported earlier, Ilaiyaraaja became the first Asian to perform the aforementioned symphony alongside the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at the Eventim Apollo Theatre in London. Subsequently, he performed it at a Tamil Nadu Government-organised ceremony, celebrating the legendary composer's 50-year-long journey in the film industry.
