The buzz around Chatha Pacha: The Ring of Rowdies just received a heavyweight boost. As advance bookings opened for the action-packed sports comedy, it was Malayalam superstar Mohanlal who stepped forward to take the very first ticket for the film, a gesture that instantly set social media abuzz.
The makers shared a short video online capturing the moment Mohanlal officially kicking off bookings. In the clip, the actor subtly references that a “friend” of his is part of the project, a line that needed no explanation for Malayalam cinema fans. With reports already circulating about Mammootty appearing in an important cameo, the message landed with warmth and unmistakable clarity. Unsurprisingly, the video travelled far and wide, adding a fresh wave of excitement and pushing the film’s already strong pre-release buzz even higher.
Directed by debutant Adhvaith Nayar, Chatha Pacha is set against the flamboyant underbelly of Fort Kochi’s underground wrestling scene. Billed as an action-oriented sports comedy, the film stars Arjun Ashokan, Roshan Mathew, Ishan Shoukath, Vishak Nair and Pooja Mohandas in lead roles. The screenplay and dialogues are written by Sanoop Thykoodam, while the film also marks the Malayalam debut of celebrated composer trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, who handle the songs.
Backed by Reel World Entertainment, Chatha Pacha is gearing up for a theatrical release on January 22, with dubbed versions planned in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi.
