The makers of Dulquer Salmaan’s I’m Game have released the film’s second single, ‘Loser’, with the actor himself lending his voice to the track. Jakes Bejoy has composed and produced the song, while Suhail Koya has penned the lyrics. The track also features rap portions by Reble and Neeraj Madhav.
The lyric video of the high-energy track offers a glimpse at Dulquer’s character Dan John and the irreverent tone of the film. Sharing the song on social media, Dulquer wrote, “No matter the language, the vibe hits the same!” The song has been released in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Kannada.
Dulquer had previously spoken about the new song, describing it as one that celebrates losers. He also noted that singing for the track was a fun experience. The actor has also described Dan John as a character quite unlike himself, calling him a “brat”.
With ‘Loser’, Dulquer adds another singing credit to his filmography, marking his 11th song as a singer over the past decade. He made his singing debut with ‘Johny Mone’ from ABCD: American Born Confused Desi in 2013. Some of his other popular songs include ‘Sundari Penne’ from Charlie and ‘Kerala Manninayi’ from CIA: Comrade In America.
I’m Game is directed by RDX-fame Nahas Hidhayath. Dulquer plays a gambler who approaches the game through an algorithm rather than simply relying on luck. His carefully calculated approach begins to unravel when the system turns against him, setting off a chain of unexpected events. The film also features Antony Varghese, Kayadu Lohar, Kathir, Mysskin, Samyuktha Viswanathan, Vinay Forrt, Jayasudha and Shyamaprasad, among others. Sajeer Baba, Bilal Moidu and Ismail Aboobacker have co-written the screenplay with Nahas, based on a story by the director.
I’m Game, produced by Dulquer and Jom Varghese under the banner of Wayfarer Films, is slated to hit theatres worldwide on September 3. The film was earlier scheduled to hit screens on August 20 alongside Prithviraj Sukumaran's I'm Khalifa and Nivin Pauly-Mamitha Baiju's Bethlehem Kudumba Unit as an Onam release.
