This Onam season, Malayalam cinema is set to witness a box office battle between two biggies: Bethlehem Kudumba Unit, starring Nivin Pauly and Mamitha Baiju, and the Prithviraj Sukumaran headliner Khalifa. While filmmaker Vysakh's Khalifa is set for an August 20 release, director Girish AD's Bethlehem Kudumba Unit is scheduled to hit theatres a day later.
Actor Dulquer Salmaan, whose film I'm Game recently backed out of the Onam race and was postponed to September, praised the trailers of both films on Monday. Sharing a link to the Khalifa trailer on his Instagram Stories space, Dulquer wrote, "Waiting for Ameer Ali !!! What a KICKASS trailer ! Wishing dear P (Prithviraj) and the entire team of #Khalifa the very best for release." Notably, Ameer Ali refers to Prithviraj Sukumaran's character in the film.
On the other hand, regarding Girish AD's film, Dulquer wrote, "Absolutely adored the trailer of #BethlehemKudumbaUnit ! Wishing dear Nivin, Mamitha, Vinay and the entire cast and crew very best for release !!"
It is worth noting that both Prithviraj Sukumaran and Nivin Pauly commended the recently released trailer of I'm Game as well. It would appear that Dulquer has now returned the favour by sharing the links to his industry peers' film trailers and expressing his appreciation for both.
Bethlehem Kudumba Unit also stars Vinay Forrt, Sangeeth Prathap, Suresh Krishna, Roshan Shanavas, Shyam Mohan, Shameer Khan, Srinda, Parvathy Ayyappadas, Meenakshy Raveendran, Sreeranjini, Vineeth Viswam, Bindu Panicker, Vettukili Prakash, Thankam Mohan, Manjusree, Jayasankar Karimuttom, Abhiram, and Sanath Sivaraj.
On the other hand, Khalifa's cast includes Indrans, Malvika Sharma, Mohanlal in a cameo role as Aamir's grandfather Mambarakkal Ahmed Ali, Indrans, Shivajith, Shine Varghese, Shammi Thilakan, Kyraa, Mohini, Sanju Sivram, and Master Nafash, among others. The film brings Prithviraj back together with director Vysakh for the first time after the 2010 blockbuster Pokkiri Raja.
