Actor Mohanlal is known for his ability to effortlessly switch out of character at the end of a take and switch back into it the moment the camera starts to roll. Many actors and filmmakers, such as Siddique and Priyadarshan, often marvel at this ability of the superstar. For example, Siddique said in multiple interviews that his Drishyam co-star was joking around on set moments before shooting the intense climax scene of the critically acclaimed thriller, directed by Jeethu Joseph. The latest to express his admiration for Mohanlal's ability is actor Bharath.
Speaking to Galatta Plus, the actor said that he is blessed with the inborn trait of being able to separate his character from his real life. "I am blessed. It is my natural inborn character," the actor said. The actor added that he learnt how to switch on and switch off between takes from Mohanlal, with whom he starred in the film Koothara.
"I am a fan of Mohanlal sir. What I have observed from him is how he internalises his character. He would change suddenly into the character exactly when they say, 'Start camera..' When the take ends and they say, 'Cut,' he would come back to reality," Bharath said.
The actor also stated that while he looks at the existing portions of a film when he comes to the set to ensure character continuity, he does not take his characters home. "I may be emotionally connected to the team because we work for a long time together but not to the character," he revealed.
At the same time, he said that it is up to each actor to have their process. "I have worked with Pasupathy sir in Veyil. He is a method actor," Bharath said.
