Actor Dhyan Sreenivasan has revealed that he will be seen in an antagonist’s role for the first time in the upcoming comedy-mystery Vala - Story of a Bangle, which hits cinemas on September 19. The film is directed by Kadina Kadoramee Andakadaham director Muhashin.
Speaking to Cue Studio, Dhyan shared that he plays Purushothaman, a businessman with negative shades. “I had always wanted to take on a role I hadn’t done before, and I found this character intriguing. In the film, I play an old quarry owner, someone like an abkari (liquor baron). In real life, we’ve all seen these sorts of people flaunting their gold chains, bracelets and flashy watches, showing off their wealth. That struck a chord with me, and since I hadn’t worked with this team earlier, I felt I should take it up,” he said.
Dhyan also confirmed that he has not committed to any new projects this year, focusing instead on writing and his upcoming directorial work, including Thira 2.
Produced by Fairbay Films, Vala is scripted by Harshad, known for Mammootty starrers Puzhu and Unda. The upcoming film's cast also includes Lukman Avaran, Vijayaraghavan, Shanthi Krishna, Raveena Ravi, and Sheethal Joseph in pivotal roles, with composer Govind Vasantha making his acting debut while also handling the music.
The supporting line-up features Abu Salim, Navas Vallikunnu, Arjun Radhakrishnan, Shafi Kollam, Gokulan and Yusuf Bhai. The technical team includes cinematographer Afnas V, editor Siddique Hyder and production designer Arshad Nakkoth.
