Director Jeethu Joseph has confirmed that discussions are underway to release the third instalment of Drishyam simultaneously in Malayalam, Hindi and Telugu. Speaking to The Times of India, Jeethu revealed that the script for Drishyam 3 is nearing completion and will serve as the basis for all versions of the film. “There have been reports suggesting that the Hindi version will have a different story, but that is not true. The Hindi film will also follow my script, with necessary cultural adaptations,” he said.
Jeethu added that while shooting the films in parallel is not confirmed due to the availability of lead actors, the teams are exploring the possibility of a simultaneous release. “In today’s OTT-driven landscape, releasing on different dates could reduce the film’s impact in other languages. The makers feel a simultaneous release would help retain its appeal across regions.”
Recently, the makers confirmed that filming for Drishyam 3, the original Malayalam version, will begin in October this year. Mohanlal will reprise his role as George Kutty, with Ajay Devgn and Venkatesh leading the Hindi and Telugu versions respectively. The Drishyam franchise in Malayalam, which started in 2013, followed by the sequel in 2021, is expected to culminate with the third instalment.
