The first-look teaser of Jambi, an upcoming zombie film, was released on Sunday. The 64-second promo was also featured during the end credits of the recently released Dhyan Sreenivasan-starrer Detective Ujjwalan, the second entry in the Weekend Cinematic Universe. Jambi has been confirmed by the makers as the third instalment of the same shared universe that began with Minnal Murali.

The teaser of Jambi opens with an old man inside a traditional rural house, gazing curiously at the sky. A half-lit moon is then seen slowly turning dark. At that moment, the old man's black iris turns completely white. He is soon revealed to be a Hindu temple oracle. What follows are glimpses of the oracle performing rituals and retrieving a sickle-shaped sword. The lights then go out, plunging everything into darkness. In the next shot, we see the oracle’s face upside down as he transforms into a zombie-like figure. With its eerie visuals, the teaser promises a film that blends ritual, Kerala folklore and horror within a zombie narrative.

Jambi, slated to hit theatres in 2026, is directed by George Kora and produced by Sophia Paul under the banner of Weekend Blockbusters. The film is jointly scripted by George, Hari Krishnan K R and Nandhu Manoj. On the technical front, it has cinematography by Deepak D Menon, editing by Chaman Chakko and music by Sibi Mathew Alex. Details about the cast and plot are yet to be disclosed.

The teaser arrives after last year’s announcements of three Malayalam zombie films: Vala, Manjeswaram Mafia and Jambi. The makers of Vala, directed by Gaganachari-fame Arun Chandu, unveiled its teaser last month.
