Earlier, we reported about Jagathy Sreekumar coming back to the big screen in a full-length role after a long time with Gaganachari co-writer-director Arun Chandu and co-writer Tyler Durden's next film, Vala. A while ago, the makers of Vala dropped a video introducing the film's universe and characters. The video starts with Jagathy's character explaining the finite nature of human knowledge despite the infinite scope of gaining it. Then, he underscores the importance of gaining land on his small island and thus bringing more knowledge into it. The film is set in a futuristic world; when the video starts, it mentions "New Calendar Year 10" as the period. Then, a small child, whom Jagathy's character calls "my cosmic kid", rides off on a bicycle. The scene jumps to "New Calendar Year 25", as more characters are introduced and the setting is described as "zombie apocalypse". At the end of the video, Jagathy's character describes himself as Professor Ambili, who leads the gang of zombies in the universe. Basil Joseph's character tells Jagathy's Ambili, "Welcome back, sir!" For the uninitiated, Ambili is Jagathy Sreekumar's nickname in real life.
As reported earlier, Vala reunites Arun with his Gaganachari cast members: Gokul Suresh, Aju Varghese, Anarkali Marikar, and KB Ganesh Kumar. Besides, Gokul’s brother Madhav Suresh play a pivotal role in the film. The ensemble cast also includes Vineeth Sreenivasan, Bhagath Manuel, John Kaippallil, and Arjun Nandakumar.
Produced by Turtle Vine Productions in collaboration with Letters Entertainments, Vala has a protagonist loosely based on American YouTuber cum journalist Johnny Harris.
