‘Jayathirtha’s mentorship was instrumental in shaping my character in Kaiva’

Megha Shetty making a significant shift from the small screen to the grandeur of cinema, emerges as a promising talent destined to stay. Tribble Riding and Dil Pasand, marking her initial foray into movies, have placed Megha amidst roles intricately crafted to resonate deeply with audiences. With projects like Gramanayana and Cheetah underway, she sets her sights on her upcoming venture, Kaiva, directed by Jayathirtha. In a conversation with CE, ahead of the release on Dec 8, Megha delves into the nuances of her character in Kaiva, hoping to impact audiences.

Reflecting on her character as a Muslim girl in an intense love story,  set in the 1983 period,  Megha shares her enthusiasm, keeping the specifics of her character under wraps. “The intricate nuances of embodying a different persona—the mannerisms, body language, and imbibing the culture and traditions—have been an enlightening journey,” she expresses. “Exploring a new culture, especially delving into the essence of prayers, deeply intrigued me. It provides a unique perspective for the audience to witness me in a different light and understand my character on a deeper level,” adds Megha. She felt challenged conveying emotional depth primarily through expressions, a task she finds both arduous and rewarding.

Reflecting on the mentorship of director Jayathirtha, she states, “Working with the stringent yet guiding director and the collaborative cinematographer like Shwet Priya Naik has proven instrumental in shaping my character and building my confidence as an actor. I also want to credit my experiences on the small screen, particularly my time in the television serial Jothe Jotheyalli, which significantly contributed to my growth and ease in portraying strong female characters,” she adds.
Kaiva, marks Megha’s maiden collaboration with actor Dhanveerah, and working with the actor. “Our involvement as actors will certainly add depth and authenticity to the story being brought to life. The rapport with the actor helped create the palpable chemistry we share on screen,” she says.
