One Cut Two Cut Movie Review: Danish Sait shines in this satirical comedy

If you’re a Danish Sait fan and like his brand of comedy, then One Cut Two Cut deserves your time
Rating:(3 / 5)

In One Cut Two Cut, Danish Sait, known for the hit character Humble Politician Nograj, returns as an equally quirky character Gopi. Gopi is already popular among Danish’s online fans through the actor’s online video content. Now, we see Gopi as an art and craft professor in this light-hearted comedy thriller, directed by debutant Vamsidhar Bhogaraj. Danish makes sure that the humour in the film works as much as it did in Humble Politician Nograj.

Cast: Danish Sait, Prakash Belawadi, Samyukta Hornad, Sampath Kumar, Aruna Balraj

Director: Vamsidhar Bhogaraju

Streaming on: Amazon Prime Video

The film kicks off with Gopi’s first day as the professor in the college.  However, instead of teaching students, a different task awaits him: saving the college and students from a hostage situation. Gopi (Danish Sait), two teachers (Samyukta Hornad and Aruna Balraj), and kids are taken hostage by certain social media activists. How this naive Gopi battles his way out and manages to safeguard forms the crux of One Cut Two Cut, which ends with a cold climax.

A story conceived by Vamsidhar along with Danish Sait, set inside this educational institution, serves as a cat-and-mouse game between the teacher and the kidnappers. Though the film projects itself as a satirical comedy, it underlines many issues of Bengalaru - like the plight of Government schools, traffic, and the importance of the local language. It is about the existence of numerous neglected issues of this ‘well-developed’ city. Debutant Vamsi has tried to find the right balance between comedy and social messages of the film.

On the other hand, Danish comfortably gets under the skin of Gopi. He delivers his best with the appearance, body language, and dialogues. Samyukta Hornad as Gopi’s love interest and Aruna Balraj as one of the school teachers turn out to be good supporting actors.

It was interesting to know the background of each miscreant and their demands. Their quirkiness adds a lot of flavour to the film like the radio Jockey at AIR (Prakash Belawadi) and his weird connection with Amitabh Bachchan. All in all, if you’re a Danish Sait fan and like his brand of comedy, then One Cut Two Cut deserves your time.
