The trailer of the upcoming Kannada suspense thriller Janmotsava hints at a film with a tense race against time as a story element. It unfolds over a single night amid the celebrations and immersion festivities of Ganeshotsava.
Directed by Ramachari, who has also written the story and screenplay, the film’s events take place between 6 PM and 6 AM. The trailer hints at an abduction involving a young girl from North India, with the characters caught in a tense situation as the night progresses.
“Our story transpires entirely across a single night, unfolding from 6 PM to 6 AM the following morning,” says Ramachari. The film was shot across the Raichur belt, where the team had to overcome challenges while filming rain sequences. For one of the opening portions, the makers used local agricultural pump-sets to create artificial rain.
The director says the presence of actors from North India was also important to the story. “The core plot involves individuals hailing from Bihar and tracks the abduction of a young girl from North India. To keep the texture grounded and believable, casting native Hindi-speaking performers was crucial,” he says.
Janmotsava is produced by Harivardhan, Pavan Achar, Vijay Mishra and Trishul Kumar Nayak under Maruti Pictures and Lightboy Films.
The film has cinematography by Vijay Mishra, editing by Manjunatha Nagaba and music by Pradyothan. The cast includes Aishwarya H, Krishna Singh Bisht, Anvisha Tyagi, Sunil Puranik, Rakshit Ramachandra Shetty, Manthu Madli, Mahantesh Hiremath, Vikeesha Rao, Anmol Bhatkal, Salman Ahmed, Manjunath Nagaba, Dingri Naresh, Rithika, Shashi Patil and Kote Raja.
Janmotsava is set to hit theatres across Karnataka soon.
