Yash’s screen persona in Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups may be aggressive and unapologetically bold, but Tara Sutaria says the actor is quite different away from the camera.
In a recent interview, Tara was asked what Yash is like in real life, given the rough and mass-oriented characters he has often played on screen.
“I think Yash is one of the most sensitive and caring people I have met,” Tara said. “He always thinks about the person in front of him more than himself. People like that are very rare in our film industry.”
Tara’s comments come amid the conversations around the bold scenes in Toxic, which have also led to criticism of Yash and Kiara Advani on social media. While some reactions have focused on the actors’ on-screen appearances, Tara’s comments offer a glimpse of the person she encountered while working on the film.
The actor is part of the ensemble cast of Toxic, directed by Geetu Mohandas. The film stars Yash in the lead, with Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth, Akshay Oberoi, Sudev Nair and Tara Sutaria in key roles. Produced by KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations, the film released worldwide on August 26 in Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam, including an IMAX release.
For Tara, her experience of working with Yash appears to have gone beyond his star image. Her description of him as someone who puts the person in front of him before himself also offers a contrast to the character he plays in the film.
Meanwhile, Toxic has had a strong start at the box office and has reportedly crossed the ₹200-crore mark worldwide within three days of its release. As the film continues its theatrical run, the discussion around its content and Yash’s performance is likely to continue.
