The intimate scenes in Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups have become one of the talking points around the film even before its release. The trailer, which offered glimpses of Yash in several intimate and intense moments, drew criticism from some viewers, prompting questions about the need for such scenes in the film. Now, Yash has opened up about the subject and revealed how his wife and actor Radhika Pandit reacted to them.
Speaking on Aap Ki Adalat, Yash admitted that Radhika could feel uncomfortable with the intimate portions of the film. He said her reaction was natural, but added that her experience as an actor helped her understand the demands of the role and the creative decisions involved.
“I think every partner would feel uncomfortable about it. I don’t want to lie,” Yash said. He explained that the scenes were not included simply to create controversy, but because he believes certain moments are necessary to tell the story the way the filmmakers intend.
Yash also acknowledged that performing such scenes pushed him outside his own comfort zone. However, he said the story demanded it and that he approached those moments strictly as an actor.
“She may not be happy about it, but she trusts me,” he said, adding that Radhika understands the distinction between his professional and personal life. According to Yash, when he performs such scenes, he does so as an actor and not as her husband.
The actor has also described Toxic as a film that speaks to younger audiences, particularly Gen Z, and touches upon some of the issues and experiences associated with that generation.
Directed by Geetu Mohandas and co-written by Mohandas and Yash, Toxic features Yash in a dual role. The film stars Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth in key roles.
With the trailer already triggering conversations around its content, Yash’s comments have added another point of discussion surrounding Toxic, which is set to hit theatres on August 26.
