On Saturday (April 25), the Karnataka High Court disposed the case against Ranveer Singh, which was initiated after the actor mimicked a Daiva from the Bhoota Kola tradition of coastal Karnataka, at the International Film Festival of India 2025, conducted at Goa.
Earlier, the actor submitted an affidavit which was objected to by the complainant that the remorse shown by the actor in the affidavit, wasn't adequate. Now the court has given the actor four weeks, within which he has to visit the Chamundeshwari temple, according to Live Law.
The actor's mimicking was in reference to a character in Rishab Shetty's Kantara (2022) and Kantara: Chapter 1 (2025), which takes inspiration from the Bhoota Kola tradition of Tulu Nadu.
In both films, Rishab Shetty's character gets possessed by a Daiva which is represented in the form of the Bhoota Kola. Both films combined have collected more than Rs 1500 crores worldwide.
