Actor Ranveer Singh has agreed to revise his apology in the case linked to his remarks and mimicry associated with Rishab Shetty's Kantara: Chapter 1, which was produced by Hombale Films.
The matter, heard in the Karnataka High Court, stems from a complaint that Ranveer’s actions, at IFFI 2025, referencing a Daiva performance, hurt religious sentiments. The ritual, rooted in the Bhoota Kola tradition of coastal Karnataka, is considered sacred, and the complaint argued that its portrayal outside its cultural context was disrespectful.
During the latest hearing, the counsel for the actor told the court that a fresh apology affidavit would be filed. The earlier submission was objected to by the complainant, who said it did not adequately convey remorse.
The court has allowed time for the revised affidavit to be placed on record, with the content and tone of the apology expected to be central to the proceedings.
Ranveer Singh has also indicated willingness to take additional steps as a mark of respect. The case will be taken up again on April 23.
