With the release of the trailer for Rishab Shetty's Kantara: Chapter 1, the anticipation for the film is at an all-time high. The Tamil version of the trailer was unveiled by actor Sivakarthikeyan on his X handle.

Interestingly, Manikandan, of Goodnight and Lover fame, has voiced Rishab Shetty's character in the Tamil version of the film. Manikandan has previously lent his voice to replicate the voice of late actor Vijayakanth in Venkat Prabhu-Vijay's The Greatest of All Time. He is also a mimicry artist who has often replicated the voices of popular actors in interviews.

Rishab, the actor and director of the film, stars as Kaadubettu Shiva in the film, alongside Rukmini Vasanth. Also a part of the film's cast are Gulshan Devaiah and Jayaram. Pramod Shetty and Rakesh Poojari are also a part of the film's cast.

The film's visuals are brought to life by cinematographer Arvind Kashyap, who captures the forest as a character in its own right, shrouded in mist, ablaze with fire, and pulsing with a spiritual energy. Meanwhile, composer B Ajaneesh Loknath's score complements the visuals, oscillating between hypnotic, trance-like devotion and intense, fervent moments, building on the acclaimed work from the first film.

Kantara: Chapter 1 is a prequel to the 2022 film, exploring the origins of the mystical traditions and ancestral conflicts that were introduced in the original story. The film takes viewers on a journey into the past, delving deeper into the mythological roots that shaped the events of the first film. The film is gearing up to hit the big screens on October 2.

Meanwhile, Manikandan was last seen in Kudumbasthan earlier this year. He is speculated to be a part of Vetrimaaran’s film with Silambarasan, tentatively titled STR 49. However, official confirmation is awaited.
