The ongoing anti-CEC protests have been eliciting strong responses from many film industry members. While actors like Imran Khan participated in the protests, a few others like Ranvir Shorey have criticised the CJP protests. On Tuesday, Ranvir Shorey took to his X page to share that he has received death threats for his opinion.
The actor also informed that he has filed police complaint regarding the same. On his X page, sharing screenshots of two abusive emails that he received, the actor tagged Maharashtra Cyber and Cyber Dost in his post as he wrote, “Please note the following threats that I have received from these 2 email accounts. Thanks.” Mumbai Police responded to his post, replying, asking the actor to share his contact details through a direct message.
For the past few days, Ranvir Shorey had been regularly posting his opinions about the protests, particularly criticising the CJP for their lack of sincerity, among other things. In one of his posts, Ranvir questioned the opposition’s decision to take to the streets, saying that political parties should use Parliament, elections and the courts to raise their points.
In another post, he penned, "Only anarchists, attention seekers or morons would protest without exercising the legal remedies already available."
The protests that are being held in Delhi, Mumbai and a few other cities since past few days, are with regards to the alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, with the protestors demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
On a professional front, Ranvir Shorey is gearing up for the release of Khosla Ka Ghosla 2. On Tuesday night, the makers announced March 5 as the new release date for their film.
