Days after actor Ranveer Singh was issued a non-cooperation directive by Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) over his abrupt exit from Farhan Akhtar's Don 3, Manoj Bajpayee has reacted to the controversy.

While speaking to the press at the trailer launch of his upcoming film Governor, he hoped that the issue gets resolved soon. "I must tell you one thing, that all the people who are in this industry, they are only reading it on social media and we don't have the detailed information about it. But all we can say as colleagues or as fellow fraternity members that we hope that the matter is sorted out soon," he said.

Earlier, Sanjay Gupta shared a cryptic post, seemingly supporting Ranveer. "When an A List Hero shoots there are more than 300 workers working on sets. Ban him and you are not stopping him but depriving the workers of their livelihood," the director wrote on X before rhetorically suggesting that banning Ranveer does not make sense.

The FWICE has issued a strict non-cooperation directive against Ranveer, effectively 'banning' him and instructing the industry not to work with him until he resolves the dispute with the film body over the Rs 45 crore damages demanded by the producers. Slamming the actor's last-minute departure, the FWICE stated that the growing trend of superstars refusing to go ahead with projects just before shooting begins needs to be stopped.

Meanwhile, his upcoming film Governor is set to release on June 12. Based in the early 1990s, the film claims to be based on true events around the nation’s economical policy overhauling and its embracing of privatisation, paving path for free economy and a globally connected contemporary India.

The trailer establishes Manoj Bajpayee as an economist, who is also an outsider to the system he hopes to change. As the country faces a major economic crisis and the possible risk of civil war and famine, the misfit protagonist devises an elaborate plan, while bringing it in action as a secret mission, that promises to save the country from an economic collapse, even gradually winning the confidence of those initially opposed to him.

Adah Sharma plays a journalist desperate to unravel the mystery as the higher authorities reach a solution beneficial to the nation. The ensemble cast includes Madhoo and Noushad Mohamed Kunju.
