The trailer of Madhuri Dixit, Triptii Dimri and Ravi Kishan starrer crime-comedy Maa Behen was unveiled by the makers on Friday. Directed by Suresh Triveni and written by him along with Pooja Tolani, the film also features influencer-turned-actor Dharna Durga.
The trailer takes us into the quirky household of mother Rekha (Madhuri) and daughters Jaya (Triptii) and Sushma (Dharna Durga). Rekha catches the fancy of her neighbour Gupta ji (Ravi Kishan) but their fling soon turns into horror as the latter dies in her house. The film then turns into a hide-the-body comedy where the mother and daughters have to devise different, hilarious ways so that the suspicion doesn't fall on them.
Talking about the film, director Suresh shared, "With Maa Behen, we wanted to tell a story that feels both rooted and wildly entertaining, backed by terrific performance. Overall, the film is about a dysfunctional family that has the mother, Rekha, and her two daughters Jaya, and Sushma who are constantly at loggerheads and now have to deal with a dead body."
Describing her character Rekha as "not a typical Hindi cinema mother", Madhuri said, "As an actor, it’s incredibly rewarding to explore layered, unpredictable roles that challenge the audience's expectations. Rekha may not be a perfect mother, but like any mother, she wants the best for her daughters and tries to hold her family together amidst all the chaos."
Triptii added, "Jaya is the ghar ki sushil beti (responsible and well-mannered), but she also has a strong sense of right and wrong. She’s constantly trying to manage the chaos around her, only to get pulled deeper into it. The dynamic between the two sisters, with all the banter and madness, was one of my favourite parts."
The film is scheduled to release on Netflix on June 5.
