Actor Yami Gautam is in the spotlight following the release of Dhurandhar: The Revenge, her filmmaker husband Aditya Dhar's film, where she has a cameo role. Recently, Yami reminisced about shooting a scene with a male co-star where she became a little impatient.
Speaking to Galatta Plus, the actor said that one of his co-stars consumed alcohol to portray his character with authenticity and director Ram Gopal Varma, who worked on the film, helped navigate the situation. Without mentioning her co-star's name, she said, "The character was supposed to be drunk in the scene. I do not think Ramu sir was made aware of it, and that actor was doing everything in his best to make it authentic and work." Acknowledging that actors approach their characters differently, Yami said that her co-star consumed alcohol, although she did not know it at the time, and that he did not realise that it would take him more time to nail the scene.
This meant multiple retakes, and Yami Gautam eventually became a tad impatient. Yami then revealed that that Ram Gopal Varma assured her that he would fix it with another take, where he would draw a particular expression from the actor so that it could be blended with "a straight voice" in the dubbing process.
Despite the experience, Yami said that her point was about how Ram Gopal Varma dealt with the situation and not about her co-star's behaviour. "I was just amazed," she said, referring to the legendary filmmaker's handling of the situation. "The actor later was feeling very sorry; he was very sweet. But that was not the point. The point was, as a director, there was no chaos."
