Yami Gautam recently found herself mired up in a little controversy after it was found that the actor had liked an Instagram post which was slandering Kriti Sanon for her win at a recent award function, while also featuring an interview clip of Yami where she is talking about not needing any validation. Many film-goers online critiqued Yami for the move, alleging her of cheap publicity stunts to pull her colleagues down. On Thursday evening, Yami Gautam decided to issue a clarification on the ‘like.’
The Haq actor, taking to her X page, wrote, “It has come to my notice that I apparently ‘liked’ a reel that is condescending toward another actor. We get tagged in multiple things every day, and this appeared during an award-function reference like any other tag. It isn’t true and was definitely not done consciously, if anything, it may have been clicked accidentally.”
Further commenting on the PR tactics allegations, Yami added, “ Never in my life have I resorted to cheap PR tactics. I have always focused on my work and moved on.” Instead, the actor critiqued online portals for attempting to create unnecessary gossip. “I would hope they would consider that I have earned a better reputation than that. I have no PR team, have respectfully cleared my stance on entertainment award shows long ago, and remain focused on my work,” she added.
It is to be noted that Yami Gautam and Kriti Sanon have never collaborated on a film. While Yami Gautam earned a lot of acclaim for her performance in Haq, Kriti Sanon enjoyed greater box office success with Tere Ishk Mein.
Kriti Sanon’s next release is Cocktail 2, where she shares screen with Shahid Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna. Meanwhile, Yami Gautam will be reportedly seen in a brief cameo in Dhurandhar 2, which is directed by her husband Aditya Dhar.
