Earlier this Friday, we reported about iconic action hero Chuck Norris passing away at the age of 86 years. Many have already started to pay their tributes to Norris, most popular for his roles in action films of the 1970s and 1980s. The latest to pay homage to Norris is actor Akshay Kumar, who himself is known for his many action films.

Sharing an image of the late actor on social media, Akshay wrote, "Growing up as a martial artist, watching Chuck Norris in The Way of the Dragon, Missing in Action and many more wasn’t just entertainment…it was education." The actor then listed out the qualities of Norris that appealed to him. "The discipline, strength, and that effortless command he brought on screen stayed with me. Grateful for the inspiration that shaped a part of me," Akshay added about The Way of the Dragon star.

For the uninitiated, The Way of the Dragon saw Norris starring opposite the legendary Bruce Lee. Much like Akshay, Norris also has black belts in multiple forms of martial arts. He is a martial arts champion with black belts in Karate, judo, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Chun Kuk Do, Taekwondo, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Tang Soo Do.

The actor's other popular titles include Good Guys Wear BlackThe Delta ForceGood Guys Wear BlackLone Wolf McQuadeThe Octagon, Firewalker, and Code of Silence. Norris is not known for his roles in comedy, though, unlike his contemporaries or even Akshay Kumar for that matter. That said, he has starred in some comedies, notably Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story.

When his stardom began to wane, Norris transitioned to the television industry, notably landing a role in Walker, Texas Ranger, which is inspired by his own movie Lone Wolf McQuade.
