On Monday, Anupam Kher took to his X page to announce the OTT premiere date of his directorial Tanvi The Great, which released theatrically last year. The coming-of-age drama will begin streaming on Prime Video tomorrow, on March 3.
The veteran actor penned a long and emotional note, as he shared the announcement. He wrote, “Every film is special. But some films become a part of your soul. Tanvi The Great is one such film for me.” Recalling the process of making the film and seeing audience’s response, the actor added, “We made this film with belief. Belief in courage! Belief in goodness! Belief that being different does not mean being less. From theatres to festivals… from cinema halls to quiet, emotional messages from strangers… this journey has been deeply personal.”
Besides featuring upcoming actor Shubhangi in the titular role, Tanvi The Great also featured actors like Pallavi Joshi, Jackie Shroff, Karan Tacker, Naseer, Arvind Swamy and Boman Irani in significant roles. In our review for the film, we noted, “These are some smaller moments spread unevenly through the first half, filled with a sense of tenderness. On other occasions, the film quickly spills over to become loud, melodramatic and overly patriotic for no reason."
Releasing on July 18, the film suffered majorly at the box office due to the surprising box office success of Saiyaara. However, the film was later re-released in theatres in September and enjoyed a better reception then.
