Kajal Aggarwal and Shreyas Talpade will be seen sharing screen for the first time in the upcoming thriller The India Story, which is set to release on July 24. The official teaser of the film was unveiled on Friday.
In The India Story, Kajal Aggarwal plays Advocate Archana, a righteous lawyer who takes up the case of Yogesh Patil (Shreyas Talpade), a middle-class man who undergoes a huge personal loss due to the malpractises of huge corporations and their illegitimate use of pesticides. Against all barriers and public protests, the two struggle to fight for justice, while uncovering the dangerous reality of pesticide farming, and start a conversation that is significant to every family in the nation, and yet ends up ignored.
Talking about the film, Shreyas Talpade said, “Pesticide farming is an issue that affects every household, yet we rarely stop to think about its consequences. Through my character's journey, I hope audiences connect with the emotional struggle of an ordinary parent fighting against a system much larger than himself. This is a story that entertains, but more importantly, starts an important conversation." Kajal Aggarwal added, “The India Story is a film with a strong social message at its core. As a mother, the story resonated with me on a very personal level because it reflects the fears and concerns that many parents carry today.”
Director Chettan DK said, "Through this story, we wanted to shed light on the alarming reality of Pesticide Farming and the silent health crisis it creates. The teaser is only a glimpse into a much larger issue that affects millions of families every day. Our aim is to also provoke thought, and encourage audiences to question what ends up on their plates."
Written and produced by Sagar B Shinde, The India Story is presented by Zee Studios in association with MIG Production & Studios. The technical team includes cinematographer Nishant Bhagwat, music composer Mangesh Dhakde, editor Ashish Mhatre, lyricist Shakeel Azami, and sound designer Anmol Bhave.
Besides Hindi, the film will also be released in Telugu and Tamil.
