After dropping a new poster from the film, the makers of Mirzapur: The Movie have now unveiled the first looks of its central characters Kaleen Bhaiya (Pankaj Tripathi), Guddu Pandit (Ali Fazal) and Munna Tripathi (Divyenndu).
Pankaj can be seen as Akhanda Tripathi aka Kaleen Bhaiya giving his trademark death stare. He shared the poster along with the caption, “Jo aaya hai, woh jaayega bhi, bas marzi Kaleen Bhaiya ki hogi. Aapka swagat karte hain bade parde par. (He who is born, will also die, but only after Kaleen Bhaiya’s permission. Welcome to the big screen).
Ali is seen sporting a black leather jacket and blazing a rifle. Sharing the poster on Instagram, he wrote, “Shuru majboori mein kiye the, ab maja aa raha hai. Guddu Bhaiya aa rahe hain bade parde par, taiyaar hain na? (Started in desperation. Now enjoying it. Guddu Bhaiya is coming to the big screen. Are you ready?).”
For Munna’s poster, Divyenndu is seen in an intense avatar, holding a burning torch. “Hindi philam ke hero hain hum, kaha tha na, hum amar hain ( I am the hero of Hindi films. Told you, I don’t die),” reads the caption on his poster. The caption is in reference to Divyenndu’s return to the Mirzapur franchise. His character, Munna, was killed off in the series but will now make a return in the film, leading many to believe that the movie will be a prequel to the events of the series.
The teaser for the film will be unveiled on Thursday, 12 pm.
Mirzapur: The Movie is a theatrical film based on the characters of the acclaimed Prime Video series Mirzapur (2018). The film will see actors Ali Fazal, Shweta Tripathi, Pankaj Tripathi, Divyenndu, Abhishek Banerjee, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Sheeba Chaddha, Harshita Gaur, Rajesh Tailang, and Rasika Dugal, reprise their roles. New entrants to the project are Jitendra Kumar, Sonal Chauhan, Sushant Singh, and Ravi Kishan.
Presented by Amazon MGM Studios and Excel Entertainment, Mirzapur: The Movie is directed by Gurmeet Singh, written by Puneet Krishna, and produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under the banner of Excel Entertainment. The film is co-produced by Kassim Jagmagia and Vishal Ramchandani and is slated for a grand worldwide theatrical release on September 4.
