

To mark the 25th anniversary of the Aamir Khan headlined Oscar-nominated film Lagaan, the makers announced on Wednesday that the film will be re-releasing on June 12 and will be running in theatres till June 14.
The period sports-drama originally released on June 15, 2001 and was directed by Ashutosh Gowariker. The actor’s production banner Aamir Khan Productions shared the announcement on its official Instagram handle on Wednesday. They also shared a new trailer for the film.
"A timeless epic that touched every heart. On the 25th Anniversary of 'LAGAAN' the epic saga returns to the big screen. Relive the magic in theatres on 12th, 13th and 14th June," read the caption.
Set during the British rule in India, Lagaan told the story of a cricket match between a group of untrained villagers and their colonial masters.
The film was nominated in the Best Foreign Language category at the 74th Academy Awards and received widespread critical and commercial acclaim.
Besides Aamir, Lagaan also stars Gracy Singh, British actors Rachel Shelley and Paul Blackthorne, Suhasini Mulay, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, and Rajendra Gupta, among others.
The music of the film was composed by AR Rahman and includes songs such as ‘Ghanan Ghanan’, ‘Mitwa’, ‘Radha Kaise Na Jale’, and ‘O Rey Chhori’, which still resonate with the audience.
It won eight awards, including Best Popular Film award at the 49th National Film Awards.
